Player’s Perspective
This is one of the most beautiful and unique Tele’s we’ve ever seen. Rather than trying to blaze ahead, this Tele looks to the past for inspiration… the way past, before Tele’s were even a twinkle in Leo Fender’s eye. The body of this guitar is made from reclaimed pine that was originally used over 100 years ago in Wisconsin. It has marks and figuring that you won’t see on any other guitar, and it has aged for a full century. The neck on this guitar is also a real treat! It’s one of the most heavily figured birdseye necks we’ve come across in a long time.
The sound of this instrument is light, airy and rich, with plenty of warmth in the mids but a distinctly “woody” sound in the low and high registers. If you’re in the market for a Tele but you don’t want a guitar everyone else has, this is the instrument for you. One of the best designs Fender has come up with in a long time.
Item Details
Fender’s original prototype instruments were fashioned from pine and now, with the 2017 Limited Edition American Professional Pine Telecaster we’ve come full circle. This body wood began its functional life over 100 years ago, as part of the Globe Grain Elevator facility in Superior, Wisconsin, before it was reclaimed, cooked and fashioned into an instrument. The grain, knotholes and man-made imperfections make each one unique.
For authentic, vintage-inspired tone, the 2017 Limited Edition American Professional Pine Telecaster is loaded with a single American Vintage ’64 Gray-bottom single-coil Tele® pickup and a Lollar Charlie Christian single-coil neck pickup. The Lollar pickup was selected for its old-school “woody” tone and rustic aesthetic appeal and vibe.
