Made for the bassist who needs a beautiful tone that is studio ready, but also a lightweight bass that could be played on stages for hours on end, this is a player’s bass, in the best of ways. It sounds great, plays extremely smoothly, and is nice and lightweight, too.

This M4V is J-bass through and through, but with some added versatility and a bit of a refined sound to it. You can still run the bass in passive mode and achieve those old-school traditional tones while having access to an active 2-band EQ preamp that adds a hi-fi modern sound to your tonal pallet. Lindy Fralin makes all of his pickups to order and they are some of the best hand-made pickups in the world. These are some of the best true single-coil jazz bass pickups that we’ve come across and thanks to the shielding in the bass, there’s very little single-coil hum at all when you solo one of the pickups. The pickups pair nicely with the Bartolini preamp which helps add a hi-fi and modern touch to the sound to help you get those Marcus Miller-like sounds. Whether you’re slapping away on some funk, doing some fingerstyle blues, or rocking hard with a pick, this bass will be able to handle all of that with ease and will give you a tight and defined sound.

The build quality is thoroughly perfect. High-quality lightweight tuners, a super lightweight yet perfectly balanced body, and spot-on immaculate fretwork really help to instantly clarify why these basses are worth what they are. From top to bottom – this beast is a tone monster (and you can rock out for hours on end in extreme comfort with how little it weighs and how beautifully it plays)!
