Music Store Live is proud to offer up this Custom 24 from Paul Reed Smith. Here’s another gorgeous offering from PRS’s CORE collection of guitars. The highly figured flame maple top really helps to make this guitar look as wonderful as it sounds and feels. It’s a really cool looking top without the upcharge of a 10-Top, which is always nice. We really dig the figuring on this one!
The majority of Custom 24’s, these days, are coming with 85/15 pickups, and for good reason. These are a faithful recreation of the pickups that put Paul Reed Smith on the map. They sound vintage enough to get the job done if that’s what you need but can also more than handle their own in more modern settings as well. They handle saturation and distortion with grace and ease. The notes are always full and articulate.
The Pattern Thin neck shape is PRS’s slimmest profile and really allows you to fly up and down the neck with ease. It’s pretty skinny from front to back but yet doesn’t feel like you’re holding onto a toothpick. It still feels comfortable playing chords in open position, for example. Bends are seemingly limitless, only restricted by how strong your strings are, and there’s never a worry of fretting out. The fretwork is a thing of beauty and we received this from PRS already with very low action, and yet no fret buzz whatsoever.
There’s a very real thing that can happen when you pick up a guitar that is just so inspiring that it makes you a better player by not only being easier to play but also by giving you more motivation to pick it up and play it every chance that you get. The PRS Custom 24 is one of those instruments!

The Custom 24 is the quintessential PRS guitar. This iconic instrument was the first model that Paul Reed Smith brought to the public at PRS Guitars’ first Winter NAMM show in 1985 and has been a top seller ever since. Played by internationally touring artists, gigging musicians, and aspiring players, the Custom 24 features PRS’s patented Gen III tremolo system and PRS 85/15 pickups with volume and tone controls and a 5-way blade switch. 85/15 pickups were personally designed by Paul Reed Smith to offer remarkable clarity and extended high and low end.
The Custom 24 is the original PRS. Since its introduction, it has offered a unique tonal option for serious players and defined PRS tone and playability.
